Multiple tours let visitors and residents get a closer look at the local artisan culture in all its details. In downtown Hendersonville on Saturday, Oct. 19, the Arts Council of Henderson County presents its inaugural Art and Architecture Day benefit showcasing the hidden treasures of the city’s historic downtown. Cost is $50 per ticket and includes a catered lunch, a walking tour, and slideshow (coffee and pastries start the day at 8:30am). See acofhc.org for more information.

Ceramists, painters, jewelers, sculptors, glassblowers, paper and textile artists, watercolorists and more in North Asheville’s scenic Beaverdam Valley invite visitors to their studios during the Beaverdam Studio Tour 2019 on Oct. 26 (10am-5pm) and Oct. 27 (12-5pm). Visit more than 50 local artists in their studios on the self-guided Weaverville Art Safari happening Nov. 2 and 3, 10am-5pm. A preview party will take place at three galleries — Artisans on Main, Mangum Pottery, and Miya Gallery — on Nov. 1 from 6-8pm, $10 admission (the tour itself is free and self-guided). The River Arts District Artists’ Fall Studio Stroll, a self-guided tour through the district on Nov. 9 and 10, 10am-5pm, welcomes throngs of visitors to meet artists, shop, and view demos and current shows. A free trolley will run through the mile-long district every 15 minutes. riverartsdistrict.com

The largest, longest running studio tour in the country, the self-guided Toe River Studio Tour, is slated for Dec. 6-8, 10am-5pm, and will feature craftspeople in every medium hailing from Mount Mitchell to Roan Mountain. A meet-the-artist reception happens at Spruce Pine Gallery on Friday, 5:30-7:30pm. toeriverarts.org
