STYLISH LIVING IN WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

A Natural Transition
Covered Entry by Poppies Gourmet Farmer’s Market

A home’s entry offers the first impression of what awaits within, and the low-key elegance of these container plantings by Brenna Henley of Poppies Gourmet couldn’t make a better statement. Welcoming and appropriate to the surroundings, the feeling is lush without being overdone.
“I wanted to capture something of the woodlands,” says Brenna, “but keep it understated. I also wanted to add some seasonal interest, but didn’t want to overwhelm with mums and pumpkins, so I chose some non-traditional pumpkins and squash.”
For her palette, Brenna selected rich reds and oranges and highlighted them with plenty of textured foliage. “Using the varied greens in combination with the colors really shows well.”
In keeping with the relaxed, rural feel of the home’s exterior, the design acts as a continuation of the setting, carried right to the door. “Natural muted colors and plants that look like you grabbed them out of the woods make it all feel unified.”
